Book review sweet potato soup

Between blogging and writing a book review this morning, I made some soup, without a recipe. And instead of being a cooking disaster, it was good! So here it is: 2 servings.

2 pieces bacon
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tsp chopped ginger
2 roasted jalapenos
1 ex-large sweet potato
1 small regular potato
2 c. chicken stock
1 c. water
Juice of 1/2 orange
2 large leaves of kale, chopped
salt & pepper to taste

Cut up bacon into sprinkle-on-top-of-soup bite sizes and cook in soup pan. Remove bacon and dump in chopped onions and ginger. Cook until onions are translucent, then add sweet potato, regular potato, and jalapenos. Stir to coat with bacony oniony oil. Add chicken stock and water and simmer until potatoes are mushy, then mash with masher. Simmer while writing; add water if necessary. Add orange juice and chopped kale until kale is wilty, then salt & pepper. Also, if you remember, stir in some of that plain yogurt that’s in the fridge, because it’s only got a few days left. If you forget, that’s ok, it’s good without. File book review and eat.
